There are times when I think we could all use a little Casey-Jones-branded Street Justice in our lives. Some dumb street punk mouths off to your momma. Some no-talent dipshit door-dings your car. A high school dropout puts pickles on your burger after you clearly told him not to. You get me.
So here’s a brand new sticker to accompany you in those times of need. Measuring in at 5″ x 5″, but packing about 190lbs of hockey-mask-wearin’ punch, Casey will help you send the appropriate message when the time is right to stick it to ‘em.
This is the second in a series of stickers I’ve been working on based on my 1980′s childhood nostalgia. It pairs up nicely with the ‘Bad Brain‘ one from a little ways back. I’ll be releasing a few more here on the blog before getting them printed up in the not-too-distant future. Keep your eyes peeled, I’ll be offering these up for sale one way or another once my new shop goes live for 2014.
For the few that I’ve promised ‘Bad Brain‘ stickers to, don’t fear, I haven’t forgotten about you. I’m still working out some logistics for mailing these over-sized things, but it shouldn’t be much longer until you can get your meathooks on them.
A couple years back I shared a slew of Transformers Box Art images from the 1980′s. It’s easily one of the most viewed posts on my blog to this day. I recently noticed that I had an entire folder chock-full of images that didn’t make that original cut, so I thought I’d add a little ‘Part II’ to this Transformers art tribute. Enjoy responsibly.
You can scope the entire series of box art over at Botch the Crab.
Here is my my contribution to the HAS BROS Art Show, opening this weekend at The Dart Gallery in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The show’s theme is 1980′s toys, and since I’ve always wanted to do a big, mean, crazy close-up of my favorite bad guy, Zartan; I figured this was the perfect opportunity to enlist his ugly mug.
The poster weighs in at 12″ x 18″ and is an edition of 25. Printed by the fine folks over at Moxy Ox.
Zartan will go on sale this Saturday, November 9th at The Dart Gallery for $25. [Coordinates: 127A Portland Street, Dartmouth NS B2Y 1H8, Canada]
Any remaining stock will be shipped to me after the show and made available for purchase through my online store which should go live in a few weeks. I’ll give a heads up on Twitter when that happens.
I’m stoked to announce that I’ll be taking part in the Has Bros Art Show next month at the Dart Gallery in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. That’s Canada, folks. When my buddy Eric Miller approached me about participating in a gallery show themed around 80′s toys, you can bet your bacon I jumped at the chance. I’m humbled and honored to be displaying my work alongside some truly tremendous talents, including my pal from up North, James White.
For my contribution, I’ve cooked up a poster featuring a total bad-ass from my favorite toy franchise of all time. I’m having 25 printed up for sale at the gallery and any remaining prints will be be made available to purchase through my new shop once it goes live. I’ll debut the poster here the week of the show. Can’t wait to show you guys…
Here’s the official lowdown:
HAS BROS is a new art show featuring work inspired by 1980s toy franchises like MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, and more! Running at The Dart Gallery from November 9-20, HAS BROS will feature new pieces by some of the top artistic talent from the Maritimes and beyond. Smith (AKA Hydro74), and many more! Prints of all the pieces will be on sale at the gallery as well. No batteries required, no assembly needed, no parental supervision necessary!
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there in person this time around, but if you happen to be trekking through the Nova Scotia area make sure you stop in and check it out. Be sure to hit me up on Twitter and tell me about all the awesome I’m missing.
Yep, it’s that bad brain from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame, KRANG. I’m having 5″ x 8.5″ stickers of this bad boy printed up by the dudes at Sticker Mule as we speak. If everything goes according to plan, I should receive them in time for WMC Fest this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. Fingers crossed.
I did a little sketch of KRANG a couple months back which I posted over on Instagram. I used that sketch as the basis for this vectorized version, making some slight adjustments along the way. I wanted to make sure that the ‘ol brain wasn’t perfectly symmetrical because, if I recall, he was always bubbling up and squirming around. The original drawing was a little too “droopy” for my tastes however, so I tightened it up a tad without perfectly mirroring the left and right sides. Just enough play between the two to give him a little bit of life.
After KRANG was set to party, I went about drawing out the type for the bottom portion of the sticker. Scanned that in, threw some vectors on it and there you have it. I went with a “kiss-cut” style of sticker like the ones you used to see all over the place back in the day. Loved those things, so I’m gonna try to bring it back to that era. As always.
If you’re going to be in Cleveland this weekend and want some KRANG in your life, track me down through Twitter. I’ll have a fat stack of these on me at all times. Come and get ‘em…
